ROCKINGHAM — Helping the Richmond Senior High School girls’ swimming team to its best finish this season, a senior swimmer earned the latest spotlight in The Richmond Observer’s weekly feature series.

Alivia Webb, who swims in individual events and relay races, has been named the Official Richmond County Female Student-Athlete of the Week presented by Rockingham NC Self Storage.

Adding a new relay event in the team’s third Sandhills Athletic Conference meet of the season, Webb helped add points in three different events.

Ranked in the top 10 students in Richmond’s graduating class of 2025, Webb puts in a lot of work in the classroom when she’s not swimming.

A dual-enrollment student at Richmond and Richmond Community College, Webb is taking five classes this semester. Three of them are at RichmondCC — Art 111, Biology 111 and English 111.

When she’s at Richmond, Webb is taking Economics and Personal Finance Honors and English IV Honors. She earned straight As during the first nine-week period and currently has all As as the semester draws to an end.

Hoping to boost her 4.64 weighted grade point average in the spring, Webb will take a few more courses at RichmondCC. At the high school, she’ll have Junior Leadership Honors and Anatomy and Physiology Honors.

An active member of Richmond’s student body, Webb is an officer with the National Beta Club and a co-leader with Fellowship of Christian Students. She’s also a member of the Senior Senate, HOSA, the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society.

The Lady Raider swim team placed third overall in last Wednesday’s SAC meet at St. Andrews University, their best overall finish as a team this winter. Richmond scored 93 points and jumped from fifth place.

Webb competed in three events — the 100-yard backstroke, as well as the 200-yard freestyle and medley relays.

In her lone solo event, Webb swam the backstroke in 1:50.98, her second fastest time this season. She registered a sixth-place finish and recorded nine points for Richmond.

Adding the 200-yard medley relay to its race list for the first time this season, Richmond relied on Webb off the starting block. She also swam the backstroke in that event, which was the first leg.

Along with teammates Sulleigh Bruce, Jamison Hubbard and Mascha Theijs, the team recorded a final time of 2:58.56. That was good enough for third place and 24 total points.

Later in the meet, Webb rounded out her three-race performance as part of the open 200-yard relay. Richmond nearly beat its season-best time and took fourth place with a mark of 2:21.44. That added another 22 points to the scoresheet.

The Lady Raider swim team has off until the new year. Its first meet of 2025 will be Jan. 8.
