“PERSONAL BEST” WITH AMARIAH GIBSON
At the Walter Bass Invitational Saturday, hosted by Liberty University, Gibson competed in one event and set a new personal record time.
Competing in the 55-meter dash, Gibson finished ninth overall in the preliminary heat with a time of 7.53 seconds, the fastest time of her career.
That time moved her up to the second fastest runner in Lady Raider indoor track and field history behind former sprinter Isis Covington (2023). Gibson’s PR placed her third on the list behind Covington’s top-two times in the 55-meter dash of 7.49 and 7.50 seconds.
Gibson just missed out on being able to run in the 55-meter dash finals heat, having needed to finish eighth or better in the event.
Richmond’s indoor track and field team will compete in a meet this Saturday at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem.
