FAYETTEVILLE — Nearing the end of its regular-season schedule, the Richmond Senior High School boys’ tennis team faced a tough opponent Monday.

Returning from a lengthy spring break hiatus, the Raiders couldn’t get into a groove on the road against Jack Britt High School.

Facing the Buccaneers for the second time this season, Richmond suffered a 7-2 loss in the Mid-South Conference contest.

Richmond was swept 6-0 in singles play and collected its two wins in doubles action.

The No. 2 doubles team of junior Brian Griffith and senior DJ Gainey, as well as the No. 3 duo of junior Ben Lutz and freshman Brian Dominguez, got those wins for the Raiders.

Griffith and Gainey notched an 8-2 victory, while Lutz and Dominguez held on for an 8-6 win.

The Raiders (4-5, 3-4 MSC) will have off the rest of the week and return to action next Monday for a home conference match with Overhills High School. Singles matches will start at 4 p.m.
