HAMLET – As winter storm Grayson has moved farther inland than forecasters originally expected, Richmond County Schools Superintendent Dr. Cindy Goodman announced via Twitter Wednesday night the closures of all county schools for faculty and students on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018.

According to RCS’ public information officer Briana Goins, parents, guardians and students are encouraged to check the district’s social media platforms for updates regarding future delays and closures.

Earlier Wednesday, RCS students across the county were released two hours early at 1 p.m. as Goodman and her team of administrators acted swiftly anticipating Grayson’s arrival.

This closure also includes RCS students who attend the Early College at Richmond Community College. RCC, according to a phone call from President Dale McInnis, will also be closed Thursday to students and faculty.

The Richmond Observer will continue to monitor Grayson’s progress throughout the Sandhills region and will report any updates on closures and delays for Richmond County Schools, RCC and local businesses.
