HAMLET – For the second consecutive day, as a result of Winter Storm Grayson, Richmond County Schools Superintendent Dr. Cindy Goodman announced via Twitter the closures of all county schools for faculty and students for Friday, Jan. 5, 2018.
In her tweet, which was sent out Thursday around 2 p.m., Goodman reminded everyone to "stay warm and be safe," and added she hopes to see everyone return to a normal schedule Monday.
According to RCS’ public information officer Briana Goins, parents, guardians and students are encouraged to check the district’s social media platforms for updates regarding future delays and closures.
RCS students, who returned from holiday break Wednesday, were released two hours early in anticipation of the storm. School was also cancelled Thursday.
This closure also includes RCS students who attend the Early College at Richmond Community College. As of 2:50 p.m. Thursday, there has not been an annoucement from President Dale McInnis about RCC's Friday schedule.
The Richmond Observer will continue to monitor cancellations and travel conditions across the Sandhills region and will report any updates.
