ROCKINGHAM — Carl T. English, 73, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
He was born May 10, 1948 in Marlboro County, South Carolina, a son of the late Carl and Mary Haire English.
Mr. English served in the U.S. Army in 1968 and retired from Amtrak. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Mr. English enjoyed his tractors, watching old westerns, his white 1987 Chevrolet truck, and loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Pauline Quick and Geneva Steen; and a brother, LeRoy English.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Wallace, South Carolina, with the Rev. Charles Cox and the Rev. Jerry Wayne Shaw officiating and with military honors. Visitation will be held at Watson-King funeral home from 5-7 p.m on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021.
Surviving, his wife of 52 years, Marjorie L. English of Rockingham; children, Kathy Simmons (Scott), Jeff English, and Marsha English; grandchildren, Dylan English (Maria), Kayla Carroll (Tyler), Jordan Carroll (Kaitlyn), Kimberly Shaw (Andrew), Payton English, and Gracie Shaw; great-grandchild, Braeden English; sisters, Faye Quick (Roy), Carlene Smith and Ruthie Howington; numerous nieces and nephews.
