ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov. 6 to celebrate the grand opening of Mexibites, a new Mexican restaurant located inside Goodwill Industries in Rockingham.

Mexibites brings a fresh and flavorful addition to the community, offering authentic Mexican cuisine, including tacos, burritos, bowls, and more — all made with fresh ingredients and served with warm hospitality. The new restaurant provides customers with both dine-in and takeout options, creating a convenient stop for shoppers and locals alike.

Chamber President and CEO Kristi King welcomed attendees and thanked Mexibites for partnering with the Chamber of Commerce, expressing excitement for the official ribbon cutting.

“This is an exciting day for Mexibites and for the Chamber of Commerce,” King  said. “We’ve heard so many great things about this place. Everywhere you go, people are  saying, ‘I love it! I go there every day for lunch!’ We’re thrilled to officially welcome them and  celebrate their success.”

Rockingham Mayor John Hutchinson also shared his enthusiasm for the restaurant’s opening.

“One thing we love in Rockingham and Richmond County is good food,”  Hutchinson said with a smile. “I hear not only good things about the Mexican dishes that  you prepare, but the bakery as well. I want to wish you years and years of success here, and invite you to call on us any time we can be of help to you.”

Jeff Smart, representing the Richmond County Board of Commissioners, echoed these sentiments.

“I know at my work in Hamlet, my employees leave for lunch and come back with your food, so I know it must be good,” Smart joked. “We wish you the very best, and please reach out to the Commissioners, that’s what we are here to do. To promote and support places like yours.”

Mexibites owner Jose Huerta thanked everyone for coming and expressed his excitement for opening the restaurant and serving the community.

“We are so excited to move forward  and make this successful. I would like to encourage people to come and try it out.”
