HAMLET — Cindy Kay Locklear, 42, of Rockingham passed away Monday, April 4, 2022 at Richmond Co. Hospice.
She was born Aug. 9, 1979 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Ernest C. Locklear Sr. and Viola Jane Locklear.
Cindy graduated from Richmond Senior High School Class of 1997 and from Sandhills Community College. She was employed by Global Packaging Company.
Cindy was a hardworking, fun-loving mother of two. Her daughter and son were the center of her world. Her family was always her top priority, whether it was spending time with her children, daily group chats between her brothers and sisters, or spending time with her nieces and nephews, she was always looking out for her family. Cindy was most famous for her delicious pecan pies during the holidays, with Christmas being her favorite. Her favorite Christmas tradition of making household baskets was passed down to her by her Mama.
Cindy truly valued education, she attended N.C. State and was an avid Wolfpack fan. She was also an alumnus of Sandhills Community College. She loved her best friends Shirley McKinzie Smith, Tracey Ryals and her Global Packaging work family and you could always find her in her element in the lab with her music going and if you walked in at the right time, you could even catch her singing. Cindy was a person that once you met her, you couldn't forget her. She truly made the world a better place with her strong will, quick-witted humor, fun-loving personality and family values. We will all miss her dearly and daily.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest C. Locklear Jr.
