ROCKINGHAM — Richmond County Rescue Mission was honored to host the Region 5 Community Health Workers Quarterly Meeting on March 30, 2026, at the Place of Grace Campus in Rockingham. The meeting brought together community health workers representing 15 North Carolina counties for a day of regional connection, learning, and collaboration.
Held at 252 School St., the quarterly meeting focused on strengthening the role of community health workers in the field and advancing coordinated responses to the complex challenges facing North Carolina communities. The program included discussion on mental health resources for community health workers and the communities they serve, as well as engagement with public leadership.
Richmond County Rescue Mission was proud to welcome this important gathering to its campus and to support a regional conversation centered on service, access, and community impact.
“Hosting this meeting was a meaningful opportunity for our organization and for Richmond County,” said Matthew Davis, executive director of Richmond County Rescue Mission. “Community health workers are essential to reaching people in crisis, building trust, and helping individuals navigate systems of care. We were grateful to open our doors to leaders from across Region 5 who are doing this work every day.”
The event reflected the growing importance of collaboration across counties, service sectors, and frontline organizations. By convening community health workers from across the region, the meeting created space for shared learning, stronger partnerships, and practical discussion about how to better serve individuals and families facing health, behavioral health, and social challenges.
Richmond County Rescue Mission extends its appreciation to the organizers, presenters, and attendees whose leadership made the event a success.
