ROCKINGHAM — The front lawn of Richmond County Hospice is expected to be covered with cars — and trucks — Saturday for one of its annual car shows.
Cool Cars for a Cause, now in its fifth year, will present trophies to the Top 25 entries determined by participant selection.
Judges will decide the awards for Best GM, Best Ford and Best Mopar; and judges and RCH staff will pick Best in Show and Director’s Choice.
Registration is from 8:30 a.m.-noon. The first entry is $20 and subsequent entries are $10. The event runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. In case of rain — which doesn’t seem likely based on the current forecast — the event will be moved to April 12.
RCH will be selling hot dogs during the car show and Tacos Mr. Pancho, Puckered Up Lemonade and Sunset Slush of Chesterfield County (South Carolina) will also be on site.
Other vendors will be set up including: Enchanted Designs; T-Mobile of Rockingham; Sassy Circles; Meme’s Crafts; Wonderfully Created; Carolina Hearts Home Care; and Tina Miller State Farm.
The event, sponsored by Watson-King Funeral Home, started in 2019 but was canceled in both 2020 and 2021 due to concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cool Cars for a Cause featured more than 60 vehicles last year — which was rescheduled to April because of weather — and brought in $5,000. The event raised $4,200 in 2022 and around $4,000 in 2023, despite the weather.
