ROCKINGHAM — Although it never really stops, Richmond Raider football is gearing up for a busy summer regimen.

In addition to weekly summer workouts, the Raiders and third-year head coach Brad Denson are preparing for a host of 7-on-7 and lineman challenges in June and July.

Before welcoming Hoggard High School at home on Aug. 21 for the first regular season game this fall, Richmond will share the field with several other teams from around the Carolinas in a series of scrimmages.

The Raiders will host four different 7-on-7 competitions, as well as with the accompanying lineman challenges, all serving as tune-ups for the upcoming campaign.

Every event this summer is open to the public for free and will begin at 10 a.m. on Richmond’s practice fields.

The dates and opponents are as followed:

Thursday, June 18: Cape Fear, Chesterfield and Sun Valley high schools.

Thursday, June 25: Cheraw, Chesterfield and Montgomery Central high schools.

Thursday, July 9: Chesterfield, St. Pauls and Union Pines high schools.

Thursday, July 16: E.E. Smith, Montgomery Central, Union Pines and Florence Wilson high schools.

Denson added that during the final 7-on-7 of the summer, Richmond will field two teams – one with varsity players and the other with junior varsity players.
