PEMBROKE — Richmond County’s Angeline David was recently honored for her service to the region and the Lumber River Council of Governments.
David was presented the Calvin C. Haggins Outstanding LRCOG Board Member of the Year Award during the organization’s celebration of 53 years of “regional excellence.”
Haggins, the award’s late namesake, was a member of the Fairmont Town Council and “a devoted member” of the LRCOG Board of Directors.
David, who was recently elected to her fifth term on the Dobbins Heights Town Council, has served on the LRCOG Board of Directors since 2016 and currently serves as chair.
She is also a board member of the Lumber River COG Housing Corporation and Lumber River Development Corporation, as well as the LRCOG Executive Committee. David has also served on the boards of “numerous nonprofits” including the Richmond
County Partnership for Children, New Horizons Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Agency, and the Martin Luther King Steering Committee.
“She truly believes in the beneficial work and impact that the LRCOG has on our region and is a steadfast supporter of the organization,” reads the award description.

Rural Planning Organization Transportation Advisory Committee Member of the Year - Mary Jo Adams, Laurinburg, Scotland County
Dr. Stanley Richardson Workforce Development Board Member of the Year - John Cummings, Robeson County
