ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is investigating another recent missing persons case, searching for a young man who hasn't been seen in a month.

According to family members, 19-year-old Anthony Aashawn Hoey was last seen Feb. 1 at his mother’s home on Cartledge Creek Road, just west of Rockingham.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office confirms a report was filed on Feb. 2.

Family members say he left on foot, wearing gray pants and black work boots, but were unsure of what shirt he may have been wearing.

He is described as being around 6 feet, 2 inches tall with a slim build, weighing 125-140 pounds.

Hoey’s family does not know where he was going as the ground was “a blanket of ice” that day.

A missing poster reads that his family is “deeply concerned” for his safety and wellbeing.

According to the sheriff’s office, a detective has been assigned to the case and it is currently an active investigation.

Anyone with information on Hoey’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact Richmond County Crime Stoppers at 910-997-5454 or use the P3 Tips app.

The missing poster also lists the telephone numbers for his parents: 704-674-8529 (father); or 704-648-7982 (mother).

Last month, the Richmond County Board of Commissioners allocated $40,000 to Crime Stoppers to assist with solving several active missing persons cases, including one dating back to 2015 and two within the past 15 months.
