Fentanyl, cocaine trafficking charges filed in RCSO drug investigation

ROCKINGHAM — Investigators reportedly seized cocaine, fentanyl and firearms while executing a search warrant.

The warrant was served at a home on Devos Drive Friday, Jan. 23 by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office’s Community Impact Team and Special Response Team following an investigation into the sale of narcotics, according to the RCSO.

Investigators reportedly found: 58.69 grams of cocaine; 10.65 grams of fentanyl; 47.42 grams of marijuana; an unspecified quantity of MDMA; four firearms, including a stolen Draco AK-style 9mm pistol; as well as scales, mixing equipment and baggies.

The resident of the home, 32-year-old Brentay Qontell McQueen, was arrested and charged with: trafficking in cocaine; trafficking in fentanyl; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana; possession of a Schedule I controlled substance; maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance; possession of a stolen firearm; possession of a firearm by a felon; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is being held without bond in the Richmond County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 5.

This is McQueen’s third major drug arrest within the past two years.

Court records show McQueen has the following pending charges:

2024 - possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine; possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine; possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana; possession of a stolen motor vehicle; simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance; felony possession of marijuana; possession of marijuana paraphernalia; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of a firearm by a felon; driving while license revoked (two counts); and possession of an open container of alcohol in the passenger area

2025 - trafficking in opium or heroin (two counts); possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine; possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance; possession with intent to sell or deliver MDMA; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver MDMA; and possession of drug paraphernalia

Records show he was indicted on the 2025 charges on Oct. 24.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show McQueen was first convicted in 2012 on two counts of misdemeanor larceny and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

McQueen was also convicted of maintaining any place for a controlled substance in 2013 and manufacturing a Schedule II controlled substance in 2014.

Records show McQueen was convicted in 2017 of possession with intent to sell a Schedule II controlled substance. His probation for that was revoked the following year when he was convicted of selling a Schedule II controlled substance.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
