ROCKINGHAM — A former FedEx driver from Hoke County is facing multiple charges from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Financial Crimes Unit, accused of not delivering packages.
According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation that led to the arrest of 24-year-old Tyrone Davarius Hawkins, of Raeford, began in 2024 after a resident reported a package was never delivered.
While working for FedEx, Hawkins reportedly arrived at a property where he was supposed to deliver a dual 8-inch 1400-watt subwoofer package — valued at $381.09 — just before noon on Sept. 10, 2024.
However, according to the sheriff’s office, Hawkins “never exited his vehicle or delivered the package.”
Soon after Hawkins left, the reporting victim — who was at work at the time — received a notification from FedEx indicating that the package had been delivered and signed for, the sheriff’s office reports.
Several weeks later, on Oct. 1, 2024, Hawkins allegedly was supposed to deliver a Smith and Wesson M&P FPC 9mm to ER Pawn.
The sheriff’s office says video shows Hawkins parking the FedEx truck beside the pawn shop at 12:05 p.m. “and remaining stationary before leaving the area.” At 12:06 p.m., an employee of the pawn shop was reportedly notified that the gun had been delivered.
A warrant was issued Dec. 31, 2025 charging Hawkins with: larceny of a firearm; two counts of obtaining property by false pretenses; forgery of endorsement; and misdemeanor larceny.
Hawkins was served March 5 after turning himself in and released on a $25,000 unsecured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court March 26.
Online court records show Hawkins was cited March 8 in Hoke County for carrying a concealed gun, speeding (80mph in a 55mph zone) and reckless driving.
Hawkins appears to have no prior criminal convictions in North Carolina, but has been cited several times for speeding, court records show.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
