CAMERON — Trying to wrap up its best week of the season Friday with a win, the Richmond Senior High School boys’ tennis team couldn’t get the job done.

Playing its fourth match in three days, Richmond battled the Sandhills Athletic Conference leading Vikings.
Senior Matthew Leggett was the sole singles winner, which saw him take an 8-8, 7-5 win over Tucker Lloyd in the No. 2 tiebreaker.
No. 6 sophomore Ben Lutz also forced a tiebreaker in his match with Sawyer Manning, but fell 8-8, 6-8.
Head coach Jessica Covington called Friday’s match “competitive” and said she was pleased with how closely the Raiders kept their scores with Union Pines.
No. 1 senior Jordan Jacobs lost by just two sets, 6-8. Also falling in singles action were No. 5 senior Jordan McCormick (4-8), No. 4 senior Billy West (3-8) and No. 3 senior Gavin Applewhite (0-8).
