Free lung cancer screenings in Rockingham with the FirstHealth Lung Bus

Posted

ROCKINGHAM—FirstHealth of the Carolinas will offer FREE lung cancer screenings using its mobile Lung Bus at the Richmond County Health Department, 127 Caroline St. in Rockingham, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21.

This initiative brings low-dose CT imaging technology directly into the community, offering a quick, simple and potentially life-saving test that takes only 10 to 15 minutes.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in North Carolina, and early detection is critical. CT scans are the gold standard for detecting lung cancer at its earliest and most treatable stages. The Lung Bus, funded by The Foundation of FirstHealth, aims to provide convenient, private and accessible screenings for individuals who meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Ages 50 to 80
  • Current smokers or those who quit within the past 15 years
  • At least a 20-pack-year smoking history
  • No health issues that limit life expectancy or surgical treatment

Pre-registration and screening is required by emailing LungBus@firsthealth.org or calling 910-715-LUNG (5864).
