ROCKINGHAM — Several girls from Beverly Hills Baptist Church stood near the intersection of S. Lawrence and E. Washington streets holding signs late Friday morning.
Those signs were an effort to lure passersby to swing through and buy lemonade at a stand set up beside Simply Chic.
The youngsters are members of the church’s Girls in Action group and are raising money to donate toward missions.
Their participation in the fundraiser is also teaching them to count money and how to talk to customers.
Fifteen gallons of lemonade were made for the fundraiser and the group had plans to stay out until 2 p.m. However, they could leave earlier if they sell out.
The lemonade stand is the group’s first project.
There are seven girls in the church’s Girls in Action group, and 10 boys in the Royal Ambassadors.
