ROCKINGHAM - Richmond County women came together for a purpose at Rockingham’s Hitchcock Creek Park on Saturday, June 2nd.
The “objective” was twofold: to raise general awareness of the Habitat for Humanity Women Build Project and to specifically generate supplemental funding to help with such.
As part of the activities, a yoga class for adults was conducted on the shaded grassy banks of the creek with a subsequent session then held just for the children.
Between the two classes, Christian Liles, chairwoman of the Build, spoke to staff of the Richmond Observer to elaborate upon the group and their ongoing efforts.
There are other fun events to be held through the summer as a means of furthering the cause of the Women Build Project. One such occasion will be the “Womanless Beauty Pageant’ to be held on Saturday, August 18th at The Liberty Place on Washington Street in Rockingham.
The Women Build Project is a direct subsidiary of Habitat for Humanity and is designed to allow women (exclusively so) the opportunity to contribute to the construction and/or remodeling of homes, in the spirit of the raison d’etre of HFH itself.
Membership is continuously growing; if you would like to join, contact Liles at 910-206-3581.
Donations are, of course, greatly appreciated. Such may be contributed via checks payable to Sandhills Habitat with a notation on the “memo” line designating “Richmond County Women Build 2018” as the specified recipient.
