Trick-or-treating is starting a little early in Richmond County.
Richmond County Hospice is hosting its annual Candy Cavalcade Thursday, Oct. 24 on its campus just north of Rockingham on U.S. 1.
The event, which runs from 5-8 p.m., will feature appearances from Capt. Jack Sparrow, Maleficent, and the sisters from “Hocus Pocus.”

Also on Thursday, American Woodmark is hosting a trunk or treat at its facility in the Richmond County Industrial Park, 200 Development Drive, south of Hamlet. That event will feature “surprise guests” from across the community.
Advocacy group Darren’s Voice will be hosting a fall festival and trunk-or-treat Saturday, Oct. 26 from 4-7 p.m. at East Rockingham Park with food, games and “tables of goodies.”
“We are doing the festival for the East Rockingham community and children left behind by fentanyl poisoning,” said founder Shelia Bostic.
This is also the final weekend for Spooky Hollow at Sycamore Lodge in Derby (7-11 p.m.), the second annual Rocktoberfest will be on the front lawn of Rockingham Dragway from 7 p.m.-midnight, and BowTie Entertainment will mix a costume contest with karaoke at Axe to Grind.
Several churches are also hosting trunk-or-treats events on Sunday: First Presbyterian Church of Rockingham at 4 p.m.; First Baptist Church of Rockingham (with car show) at 5 p.m.; Freedom Baptist Church at 6 p.m.

Richmond Pines held a trunk-or-treat last Friday on its campus in Hamlet on Friday, and MB Drift hosted one Saturday as part of its annual Halloween Havoc at Rockingham Speedway.
