HAMLET — A local railroad crossing will be closed in the coming weeks for repairs.
CSX Transportation will be replacing railroad ties at the crossing on Hamlet Avenue starting at 7 a.m. July 7, according to an email from Southern Commercial Development, which provides traffic control for maintenance projects.
The crossing is just east of the intersection with Front Street, near The Ballroom. Bridges Street is the nearest intersection on the other side of the tracks.
No traffic will be allowed across the tracks until the work is complete, the email states.
The crossing is currently scheduled to reopen by 5 p.m. July 18.
The closure dates are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
