HAMLET — Water has been shut off for some city customers after a line was damaged.
According to a press release on the city’s Facebook page, the line was damaged during the installation of utilities associated with the Amazon Web Services project, resulting in “a temporary interruption of water service in affected areas.
“City of Hamlet Public Works crews are actively working to repair the line,” reads the release. “This is a large water main, and service has been shut off in the impacted areas to allow for safe and efficient repairs.”

The city says the Public Works Department is “working diligently” to restore service “as quickly and safely as possible.” Service will be returned when the repairs are complete and the system is stabilized.
“We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding during this emergency repair,” the release concludes. “Additional updates will be provided as information becomes available.”
