HAMLET — A Rockingham man is facing several charges in the Seaboard City after allegedly threatening to kill a woman.
An arrest warrant alleges that 35-year-old Isaiah Jaquan Dixon broke into a home on Taylor Avenue in Hamlet on May 25, sat a loaded Glock 19 9mm handgun — with a bullet in the chamber — on a table pointed at the reported victim and told her, “I’ll kill you.”
Dixon is also accused of coming out of a locked bedroom while officers with the Hamlet Police Department were responding to a trespassing call.
Police arrested Dixon and charged him with: possession of a firearm by a felon; breaking and entering to terrorize or injure; communicating threats; assault with a deadly weapon; assault by pointing a gun; and resisting a public officer.
Dixon was booked into the Richmond County Jail where he is being held on a $200,000 secured bond. His next court date is scheduled for June 4.
According to a release order, the same victim had filed a complaint for assault by strangulation and robbery against Dixon just two days before on May 23, but no charges related to that case have been filed.
Should Dixon make bail, the release order prohibits him from having any firearms or contacting the victim, and he is to abide by any active domestic violence restraining order.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Dixon was initially convicted in Columbus County on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and breaking and entering vehicles in 2008. However, those convictions were later vacated, records show.
Despite that, Dixon was convicted in 2014 on the same two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Dixon’s other prior convictions in Richmond County include:
2018 - larceny of firearms
2019 - possessing stolen goods
2021 - assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a felon
2024 - common law robbery, possession with intent to sell a Schedule II controlled substance, felony breaking and entering
Records show Dixon was released from prison on April 24 after serving more than eight months on a post-release revocation.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
