Hamlet Police Department Arrests

HAMLET - On Tuesday, October 16, the Hamlet Police Department was called to the scene of a fight at the intersection of Rice Street and Oak Street. There were four persons involved in the scuffle.

David Dante Mahan was charged with simple assault and assault and battery. Mahan is 22 and lives on Lakeside Drive, Marston. 

He was transported to the Richmond County Jail and placed under a $2500 secured bond.  His court date is October 25. 

Craig Henderson was charged with simple assault, assault and battery, and possession of marijuana up to ½ ounce.    Henderson is 21 and lives on Oak Avenue, Hamlet. 

He was transported to the Richmond County Jail and placed under a $1000 secured bond.  His court date is October 25. 

According to information on the NC Department of Public Safety website, Henderson has a prior conviction on June 21, 2017 for possession of a Schedule IV narcotic, maintaining any place for controlled substance, and is on probation for those charges. 

Jaquae Tyrell Stanford was also involved; he is 24 and lives on Cabel Drive in Rockingham. 

Stanford was charged with simple assault as well as assault and battery.  

Stanford was transported to the Richmond County Jail and released under written promise to appear in court.  His court date is October 25. 

The fourth person arrested was Elijah Jacob Stanford, age 19, of Beeler Avenue in Hamlet. 

Stanford was charged with simple assault as well as assault and battery. 

He was transported to the Richmond County Jail and placed under a $1000 secured bond.  His court date is October 25. 

Stanford also has a prior record.  June 14, 2018 he was charged with credit card theft and larceny. 

On January 24, 2017, he was charged with harboring an escapee and on September 11, 2016, he was charged with possession of stolen goods.  He is on probation for all of these charges. 

 

In a separate incident, Amanda Kay Pate, age 29, of Mercer Street, Marston, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and open container after consuming alcohol first. 

Her vehicle was impounded and she was transported to the Richmond County Detention Center where she was placed under a $5000 secured bond.  Her court date is October 22. 

Pate has prior convictions: 

October 10, 2018, driving while license revoked, Richmond County; 

July 14, 2016, driving while license revoked, Richmond County; 

May 7, 2014, driving while intoxicated, Moore County; 

July 18, 2012, larceny, Moore County; and 

August 17, 2011, driving while intoxicated, Richmond County.  

Pate was with Steven Randall Scott, age 50, of 4th Street, Laurinburg.  He was charged with possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and possession of a Schedule IV narcotic.  He has no prior convictions. 

Scott was also transported to the Richmond County Detention Center where he was also placed under a $5000 secured bond.  His court date is October 25. 

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
