HAMLET - The Hamlet Police Department reports two arrests and a death from a possible drug overdose.
On Monday, February 19th, a 33 year-old female was found unresponsive at a residence on Dennis Street in Hamlet and was pronounced dead at the scene.
No further information was available at the time of this report but the situation remains under investigation.
Other recent police activity in Hamlet included two arrests.
An arrest was conducted by the Hamlet Police Department (HPD) on Sunday, February 18th at approximately 6:31p.m. in the Taylor Place section of Hamlet.
Steve Little, 43, of 118 Page Street, Hamlet, was arrested for first degree trespassing (misdemeanor) after a complaint call was made to the HPD. It was noted that Little had been banned from the Taylor Place property but had gone there anyway and had subsequently refused the resident’s requests to vacate the premises.
Little was released from custody upon the provision of a written promise to appear in court on March 8th.
Another arrest was made by the HPD at approximately 12:39 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20th.
Subsequent to a report of a domestic dispute, Dequan Marquis Lockhart, 24, of 96 Williams Street in Hamlet was located at the Hamlet Laundromat and served with a felony warrant for robbery with dangerous weapon.
The warrant had been issued for a robbery that transpired on November 11 of 2017. Lockhart was charged with the robbery of $560 cash and cell phones valued at $480.
Lockhart was transported to the Richmond County Jail and is being held under a $30,000 secured bond. His trial date is set for March 8th in Richmond County District Court.
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
