HAMLET — Police are asking for the public’s help locating a teen who hasn’t been seen in several days.
The Hamlet Police Department posted a photo Sunday of 16-year-old Mariah Brown.
Brown was reportedly last seen in the South Hamlet area around 12:30 a.m. July 11, according to a social media post.
She stands around 5 feet, 5 inches tall, has black and hair and brown eyes, and weighs around 150 pounds. Brown was reportedly wearing a purple tank top and purple shorts when she was last seen.
This makes the second teenager in Richmond County to stay missing for several days.
The Rockingham Police Department confirmed Monday that they are still searching for 15-year-old Syeddia Shervita Shelton.
Shelton was reportedly last seen June 27 at her home on JFK Drive in Rockingham wearing blue shorts and a black jacket.
Meanwhile, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is still looking for 36-year-old Nicholas Drew Perkins, who was last seen June 24, 2025 near Mill Road Pawn in East Rockingham.
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the disappearance of Dennis Wayne Bailey, who was 67 when he was last seen Dec. 27, 2024. However, he wasn’t reported missing until Jan. 2.
A total reward of $5,200 is being offered for information leading to the location of Bailey.
Investigators say the case of Linda Ann McCuiston is also still open.
McCuiston was last seen alive on Friday, Oct. 11 in her yard on Country Canyon Drive.
A human skull was reportedly found by a dog on Sunday, March 9. The sheriff’s office announced March 17 that it was identified by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner as belonging to McCuiston.
A search on March 19 turned up no substantial clues nor additional remains.
There are at least two other open missing persons cases that are more than five years old.
Alvin Benson Covington, who was 57 at the time of his disappearance in late September of 2015, is still missing.
A search involving more than 20 public and private agencies from Northside Drive to Cartledge Creek Road was conducted in March of 2016.
Sol Vain Zivek, who had legally changed his name from Joseph Michael Blake, was last seen March 23, 2019, and his last known communication was a text message six days later. Deputies and SAR teams searched for Zivek in late April of that year.
