ROCKINGHAM — A Scotland County woman is facing four felony charges for allegedly using someone else’s financial cards.
Investigators with the Rockingham Police Department say that 25-year-old Rebecca Lynn McAllister, of Laurinburg, was working part-time for a home health company last summer and had been assigned to a client in Rockingham.
McAllister is accused of using the client’s credit card on July 29, 2025 to make a $2,200 payment on behalf of her cheerleading business in Scotland County.
According to investigators, that money was refunded back to the reported victim.
On Aug. 12, McAllister allegedly used the client’s debit card to pay a $492.15 phone bill.
Following several months of investigation, the RPD obtained warrants on Feb. 3 charging McAllister with two felony counts each of identity theft and obtaining property by false pretenses.
Online court records show McAllister was served on Feb. 5 and released on a $5,000 secured bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 19.
McAllister appears to have no other pending charges or prior convictions in North Carolina.
A few days before McAllister’s arrest, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office charged another caregiver with more than 150 felonies for allegedly writing checks from her client’s account totalling nearly $50,000.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
