Hudson Brothers, Ol' Skool Tribe, VFW to Sponsor Saturday Fundraiser for Sarah McDuffie

Posted

ROCKINGHAM - Hudson Brothers Deli at 115 South Lee Street in Rockingham will be the site of a fundraiser on Saturday, July 28, for one of its employees, Sarah McDuffie. She recently had open heart surgery in Chapel Hill and is still recovering at home. Sarah, a long-time employee at Hudson Brothers, has been missed by fellow staff and patrons of the popular area restaurant. She has two sons, Dustin and Joseph.

The Ol Skool Tribe in Rockingham, a local motorcycle club that participates in benefits and fundraisers throughout the year, will be on hand, as well as members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4203 and the Auxiliary. The festivities begin at 2:00 p.m., according to organizers Scottie Honeycutt Wallace and Robin Roberts. The motorcycle ride is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and will be by donation.

Hot dogs and collard sandwiches will be on sale, and #1 Diner is providing its special slaw. Live music will begin around 4:00 p.m., with a mixture of local bands that are looking forward to an entertaining jam session for those attending this fundraiser.

Robin Roberts, manager at Hudson Brothers Deli and the president of the VFW Post 4203 Auxiliary, along with Scottie Honeycutt Wallace, Eddie Dean, and other friends and supporters of Sarah McDuffie came up with the idea to sponsor this event to assist with her expenses. “We take care of our own,” Roberts stated. “We miss her and want her to be healthy again as soon as she can.”

So if you are looking for an enjoyable time this Saturday afternoon, make sure to come by Hudson Brothers in Rockingham for some great fun, food and entertainment. Those of you with motorcycles, ride on over and cruise with the Ol Skool Tribe and make some new friends! It is certainly for a worthy cause as citizens of Richmond County rally together to help Sarah McDuffie.

This event is a special occasion; the deli is normally closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Hudson Brothers Deli is located at 115 South Lee Street in Rockingham, near the Richmond County Courthouse, and its normal hours of operation are 11:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
