Hunter’s H3O Challenge (Helping Hunter Help Others) Approaches Final Stages

Posted

ROCKINGHAM - Fifty weeks ago, James and Kim Lyerly were at the cusp of losing their little boy.  Hunter Lyerly was born on March 17th, 2017, but immediately encountered major respiratory issues.  In fact, both of his lungs collapsed within a few hours of birth.

However, thanks to the work of the Lord and the fantastic medical personnel at Moore FirstHealth and UNC Hospital, Hunter is today a happy, healthy child about to celebrate his first birthday.

In recognition of this miracle, the Lyerlys began a quest to show their appreciation and gratitude to UNC Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House in Chapel Hill for all that was done for them during this most trying of times.

With the help and support of their relatives and friends - most particularly Chris and Ashley Turner, owners of Twisted Treats in Rockingham - the Lyerlys initiated a project to collect funds and donated items that are always in demand at both the hospital and the temporary residential facility.

As part of this ongoing mission, a pancake breakfast benefit was held at the Highway 55 eatery in Rockingham on Saturday, February 24th.

Kim reports that “The pancake breakfast was a huge success!”  She notes that over $179 was raised in a single hour and that a steady accumulation of monetary donations and miscellaneous items (e.g., cleaning supplies, nonperishable snacks, hand sanitizer, etc.) have been generously offered by the citizens of Richmond County.

The Lyerlys wish to express special thanks for the efforts of the Turners, J.R. Cottle, and Rusty Edwards in conjunction with H3O in general and the pancake breakfast in particular.

However, it should also be noted that THIS Saturday, March 10th, will mark the end of the crusade.  The final phase of H3O 2018 will be held at Twisted Treats at Plaza Shopping Center in Rockingham on Saturday, March 10th.  Hunter and his family will be on-site from 6:00 p.m., so come out and meet the miracle baby, his family and friends, and many of those who have helped to make H3O a big success!
