“KNOCKING DOWN THE PINS” WITH JABARI DOUGLAS

Needing to make the most of its final two regular-season matches last Thursday, the Raider bowling team came away with a pair of wins over conference leader Southern Lee and Pinecrest high schools.

Notching a 4-1 win over Southern Lee, the Raiders followed that with a 5-0 sweep of Pinecrest. The two victories moved the Raiders into third place in the Sandhills Athletic Conference standings.

Part of a season-best performance by Richmond in the victory against the Cavaliers, Douglas was nearly perfect at the line in his eight frames. He closed out 7-of-8 frames (88%), rolling five strikes and two spares.

Following that showing, Douglas was the team’s leading bowling against the Patriots. He rolled a single-match season-high six strikes and had one helper in his 10 frames.

Head coach Chris Larsen moved Douglas to the anchor spot in the final game, where the senior bowled consecutive strikes and was one pin shy of recording the turkey.

On the day, Douglas closed 14-of-18 frames for a .778 closing percentage, the best on the team.

The Raiders (8-7) will compete in the team and individual SAC championship tournaments Thursday at the Sandhills Bowling Center.
