ROCKINGHAM — James Clarence Terry, 87, of Rockingham went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 9, 2019.
Mr. Terry was born June 24, 1931 in Richmond County, a son of the late Claude and Dora Pearl Oliver Terry. He was a longtime member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Rockingham and had retired from Owens Illinois. He was a graduate of Rockingham High School, Class of 1952, attended Richmond Technical College and received his BSL degree from Holmes Bible College in 1959. Mr. Terry adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time in his woodworking shop making things for family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Terry, and sister, Juanita Dawkins.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Margaret Flowers Terry; children, Wayne Terry (Terri) of Hamlet, Eric Terry (Marsha) of Raleigh and Renae Dean (Calvin) of Greensboro; grandchildren, Christy English (Travis), Drew Terry (Stephanie), Emily Dean, Lauren Myers, Joshua Terry and Johnathan Myers; and great- grandchildren, Madison and Chasen Pankey, Khloe, Grayson and Aubrey Terry.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with the Rev. Harris Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery.
The family will see friends from 12:45–1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
