Jamyia Lindsey: The Official Richmond County Female Student-Athlete of the Week

ROCKINGHAM — A personal milestone on the basketball court has named Jamyia Lindsey as the Official Richmond County Female Student-Athlete of the Week presented by Rockingham NC Self Storage.

In the first of two victories last week, Lindsey reached the 1,000 point mark of her high school career against Lee County High School.

Thanks to those two performances from Lindsey, she earned her sixth career recognition as the Lady Raiders have won six straight games.

CLASSROOM CREDITS WITH JAMYIA LINDSEY

A dual-enrollment student at Richmond Senior High School and Richmond Community College, Lindsey is in the midst of final exam week.

This fall, Lindsey took three college courses at RichmondCC — English 111, Spanish 111 and Math 171. At the high school, she completed English III Honors and AP U.S. Government and Politics.

During the first semester, Lindsey earned final grades of four As and a B. With a 4.43 GPA, she is also an active member of the National Beta Club and Raider Diamond Club at Richmond.

This spring, Lindsey will take English 112, Spanish 112 and Math 172 at RichmondCC. She’ll also take Chemistry Honors and Weight Training Honors at the high school.

“MILESTONE ACHIEVEMENT” WITH JAMYIA LINDSEY

Richmond earned a 68-44 Sandhills Athletic Conference win over Lee County High School last Tuesday, followed by another 54-21 win over non-conference Pine Forest High School Wednesday.

Lindsey entered the game against the Lady Yellow Jackets needing just seven points to reach the milestone of 1,000 career points. She did so early in the first quarter following a steal and an easy layup.

Finishing with a season-high 35 points against Lee County, Lindsey also recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds. Nearly getting a triple-double, she had eight assists and four steals.

A night later, Lindsey dropped a game-high 28 points with three rebounds, two assists and two steals against the Lady Trojans. In her 47 career games with Richmond, Lindsey has scored 1,056 points (22.5 PPG).

In 17 games this season, Lindsey is the SAC leader in scoring with 22.6 points per game. She also leads Richmond with 5.6 rebounds per game, 3.89 assists per game and is second with 3.9 steals per game.

Lindsey is second in scoring in the 4A East, behind only Jasmine Nivar’s 28.2 PPG (Apex Friendship).

The Lady Raiders (13-4, 5-0 SAC) will look to take sole possession of first place in the conference standings at Scotland High School (12-1, 5-0 SAC). Tip-off is at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
