ROCKINGHAM — Making its way through the first round of conference play with a perfect record, the Richmond Senior High School junior varsity girls’ basketball team added another win Wednesday.
Playing on their home court, the JV Lady Raiders hosted Pinecrest High School for a make-up game from earlier in the week.
The Mid-South Conference contest ended in a 57-42 victory for Richmond.
The JV Lady Raiders controlled the tempo from the opening tip, scoring 14 points in each of the first three quarters and 15 points in the final stanza.
Amiyah Streeter, who has been a varsity contributor much of the season, played for the JV team and netted a team-high 19 points. Mary Little (12 points) and Emani Ingram (10 points) scored double figures, too.
Also finding the basket for the JV Lady Raiders were Amonie McNeil (9 points), Erin Drumwright (3 points), and Kaylee Connor and Alexis Mosley (2 points each).
Opening the game on a 14-5 run, Richmond used seven points from Little, who made a three-pointer followed by two field goals.
Ingram made a pair of baskets in the early going and a bucket and a free throw by Streeter is how she started her night.
Pinecrest was able to cut into its deficit in the second, as Richmond closed the half on a 14-12 stretch to take a 28-17 lead into the break.
Streeter was responsible for seven points in the quarter, which she scored on a three-ball and two baskets. Drumwright scored all of her points in the game in the second thanks to a bucket and a free throw.
Helping maintain the double-digit lead at halftime were two foul shots apiece from Ingram and Mosley.
The only time the JV Lady Raiders didn’t put up more points than the JV Lady Patriots was in the third quarter, which was a 15-14 back-and-forth battle.
Streeter kept her shot alive, netting a trio of shots from the floor for another six points. McNeil, who did all of her scoring in the second half, scored four points on two field goals.
Little and Ingram both found the hoop one time for the final four points of the third, giving the Lady Raiders a 42-32 advantage at the start of the fourth.
Putting the game away, Richmond scored 15 points from six different players in the closing eight minutes.
McNeil led the way with five points on two baskets and one made free throw. Little and Streeter each made one field goal and one foul shot to combine for six points, and Ingram and Connor put the game on ice with a basket apiece.
The JV Lady Raiders (9-4, 4-0 MSC) will travel to Jack Britt High School Tuesday and start at 5 p.m.
