FAYETTEVILLE — The Richmond Senior High School junior varsity baseball team got back in the win column in a big way Tuesday.
On the road at Pine Forest High School, the JV Raiders earned a 25-0 victory in three innings via mercy rule.
It was the second time in two games this season the JV Raiders defeated the JV Trojans.
Richmond dotted the scoreboard with 12 runs in the first inning, six runs in the second and added its final seven runs in the third inning.
Freshman pitcher Jackson Parsons collected his team-leading second win of the season, all while throwing three no-hit innings. He walked one batter and struck out eight hitters.
Richmond benefitted from 16 bases on balls, along with seven errors committed by Pine Forest.
Collecting 10 hits as a team, the JV Raiders were led by sophomore Kerick Hairston Jr. and freshmen Brody Bryant, Nate Culbreth and Nate Erwin, all of whom had two hits. Adding one hit each were Parsons and freshman Sam O’Neal.
Bryant had a triple and a base hit, which helped him drive in a team-leading four runs batted in.
Five JV Raiders each had two RBI – Hairston Jr., Parsons, Culbreth, Erwin and O’Neal. Freshmen Jaxton Watson and Jacob Stogner had one RBI apiece.
The JV Raiders (4-3, 4-2 MSC) will return home Friday to host the JV Trojans for the final game of the series. First pitch is at 4:30 p.m.
