WINSTON-SALEM — Competing in one of the biggest invitationals in the state this past weekend, the Richmond Senior High School girls’ indoor track and field team had several top-10 finishers.

The Lady Raiders were one of more than 60 teams to participate in the Stay in Your Lane Invitational at the JDL Fast Track.

While no team scores were kept, Richmond had four top-10 placements and another finish in the top 11.

Junior Glenisha Thomas had the best overall finish for the team, placing eighth in the shot put. She recorded a final throw of 31 feet, 5 inches.

Two of Richmond’s best results were done by senior Ka’mora Watkins, who placed ninth in the triple jump and 11th in the long jump.

Watkins, who was a state qualifier last season, landed at 33 feet, 10 inches in the triple jump. Her distance in the long jump was 16 feet, 3.5 inches.

Richmond’s other two top-10 times came courtesy of the 4x200-meter and 4x400-meter relay teams.

The 4x200 team completed its two laps around the track in 1:52.52 and the 4x400 squad completed its race in 4:50.66.

Up next for the Lady Raiders will be another meet at the JDL Fast Track after the holiday break on Jan. 16.
