“CLASSROOM CREDITS” WITH LANEY DAWKINS
Explaining that she puts a lot of her attention on her schoolwork first, Dawkins has been successful in maintaining high grades while enjoying her time as a cheerleader.
A dual enrollment student at Richmond and Richmond Community College, Dawkins is working toward earning college credits while still in high school.
This fall, she’s taking Art 111, Psychology 150 and Biology 165 at RichmondCC. During her one block at Richmond, she’s taking Economics and Personal Finance Honors, a graduation requirement for all students.
Dawkins made the A honor roll during the first nine weeks, and is on pace to do it again when the semester ends before winter break.
Next semester, Dawkins is scheduled to take three more RichmondCC classes — Humanities 115, Biology 166 and Psychology 241. Her lone class at Richmond will be English IV Honors, another required course for seniors.
Currently, Dawkins boasts a 4.462 weighted grade point average and is ranked 13th out of more than 400 students in Richmond’s graduating class of 2026.
Around campus, Dawkins is involved in the National Beta Club and was inducted into the National Honor Society. Last year, she served as a junior marshal at graduation.
When she graduates in the spring, Dawkins plans to enroll at Sandhills Community College and pursue stenography.
