ROCKINGHAM — A Scotland County man is accused of breaking into a Richmond County County residence and pawning stolen property.
An arrest warrant alleges that 21-year-old Tramayne Avion Pearson, of Laurinburg, broke into a building being used as a residence on Boone Street in Rockingham on or around May 10.
Pearson allegedly stole jewelry, perfume, money, clothing and a pocketbook belonging to the resident and then took the items to a Rockingham Pawn Shop and sold them for an undisclosed amount.
The Rockingham Police Department obtained a warrant for Pearson’s arrest on May 13, charging him with one felony count each of: breaking and entering; larceny after breaking and entering; possession of stolen goods or property; obtaining property by false pretenses; and conspiracy to obtain property by false pretenses.
The alleged co-conspirator is named in the warrant, but does not appear to have been served at the time of writing.
Records show Pearson was arrested June 1 and booked into the Richmond County Jail, where he is being held on a combined $20,000 secured bond — which includes a $5,000 secured bond for a probation violation. He is scheduled to appear in court June 18.
Online court records show Pearson was convicted in January on three counts of misdemeanor larceny after taking a plea deal in Scotland County.
However, just days after that conviction, Pearson was charged in a Scotland County assault case. He pleaded guilty in February to assault inflicting serious injury and a felony conspiracy charge was dismissed as part of a plea deal.
Neither of the prior convictions are reflected in records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction. However, they appear in court records as pending.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
