FAYETTEVILLE — The Richmond Senior High School junior varsity girls’ soccer team wasn’t able to stay in the win column Tuesday.
Playing their second Mid-South Conference match of the season, the JV Lady Raiders lost to Jack Britt High School.
On the road visiting the JV Lady Buccaneers, Richmond lost 4-1.
Jack Britt scored three goals in the first half and opened its lead to four goals early in the second half.
Getting the JV Lady Raiders on the board was freshman Sophia Legrand, who scored her first goal of the season in the final 10 minutes.
“We didn’t play that badly, but (Jack Britt) had speed up top and we could not figure out how to stay up with them,” head coach Bennie Howard said. “Three of their goals were a result of that speed beating our defenders to go 1v1.
“Now we have two days to work out some kinks and improve on our fundamentals,” he added. “Our focus is now on defeating Hoke County Friday.”
The JV Lady Raiders (4-2, 1-1 MSC) will host Hoke County High School for another conference match Friday, starting at 5:15 p.m.
