Richmond County citizens,
It has been a pleasure the be the head coach for the Richmond Raiders football team for the last two seasons. Our young men have worked extremely hard for the better part of 11 months (since February) to prepare for this time of year.
On Friday, we will be playing the Myers Park Mustangs from Charlotte at 7:30 p.m. in Raider Stadium. There is nothing like being in a small community where everyone is on the same side for our school and sports teams. The lessons we try to teach and instill in these young men can be seen in the way we all work together for the good of our community.
People from all walks of life come together on Friday night with a common goal and vision and pull the rope in the same direction. I believe this is our greatest strength over any of our opponents left in the playoffs. All of them, including Myers Park, are from large metropolitan areas without this singular community. I would like for Myers Park to see this before they ever arrive at our stadium.
I am asking all businesses and property owners to display green and gold or a “Go Raiders” message so that our players can feel the strength of this community, and so our opponents will also know that strength when they get to our stadium. They should not just feel like they are playing against the 11 guys on the field. They should feel like they are playing against our entire county.
The Mustangs are coming from Charlotte and will definitely be traveling 74 through downtown Rockingham and Fayetteville Road. I look forward to your support and seeing you all in the stands cheering every great play for the Raiders on Friday night. Let’s do this together!
Thank you,
Bryan Till
