ELLERBE — More performances across Richmond County have been added to the springtime outdoor music schedule.
Luke Vuncannon announced Friday that his self-named band will play for the first concert in this year’s Picking in the Park series.
The band’s set list includes a variety of classic country, classic rock and blues covers from the likes of Delbert McClinton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Merle Haggard and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
The concert will be from 6-8 p.m. April 24 at the small park on the corner of Main and Page streets (at the stoplight) in Ellerbe, where a new mural— highlighting the town’s agricultural heritage — from Richmond County artist Daniel Webb is in the works.
Vuncannon initiated the music series in his hometown in September 2024, starting with bluegrass, followed by a night of classic rock for the second show. The series also included a gospel performance by the Cameronian Boys.
Earlier this week, Norton Farms in Rockingham announced that its concert and food truck season kicks off April 18-19 — the same weekend NASCAR returns to Rockingham Speedway — with Kyle Garris and Jonathan Robinson, respectively.
The list of food trucks was not available as of April 4.
Garris is also scheduled to perform 6-9 p.m. April 5 at American Legion Post 49 in Hamlet.
