Local author Lucy Allen to celebrate new book, "In Jars of Clay," at meet and greet

ROCKINGHAM — Richmond County native Lucy Allen has completed her newest book, "In Jars of Clay," a devotional that encourages readers to find God in the everyday moments of life.

Through Scripture and relatable reflections, Lucy reminds us that we are all created by God, like jars of clay formed from the dust of the earth in Genesis. Her book explores how faith can be woven into our daily routines, quiet moments, and even life’s challenges, showing readers that Jesus is always present in the ordinary moments of life.

"In Jars of Clay" is Lucy’s third devotional book, following her previous works, "The Pond" and "Pearls of Great Price." Her faith and years of service have shaped her approach to writing, along with her experiences as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Lucy is a longtime member of Crestview Baptist Church, where she has served in several roles and shared daily devotions through the church’s outreach ministry since 2020. Her devotional writing has also been featured on websites such as Christiandevotions.us and Awakeourhearts.com.

Allen explores how God can bring hope and healing through life’s struggles and imperfections in "In Jars of Clay." She reminds readers that, just as cracked clay jars can allow light to shine through, our own struggles can become opportunities for God’s grace to work in our lives. Drawing on 2 Corinthians 4:7, which describes the treasure of the Holy Spirit held within fragile human vessels, Allen offers encouragement and reassurance that renewal and spiritual growth are always possible. Whether readers are looking to strengthen their faith or beginning their journey with Christ, these devotions invite them to experience God’s love and discover His presence in every part of their lives.

"My prayer is that readers will recognize themselves as beloved vessels and understand that their cracks and imperfections are not obstacles to faith but pathways through which God's grace flows," said Allen.

Allen invites everyone to a meet and greet on Monday, Nov. 2, from 6–7:30 p.m. at Blume at The Hive. Join her for a reading from "In Jars of Clay," with copies available for purchase. Lucy looks forward to meeting everyone and signing copies of her book.
