MARSTON — Mrs. Lyndol Long Beachum, 78, of Marston, went home to be with her Lord Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, at her residence.

She was born Sept. 11, 1943, daughter to the late John Maner Long and Sarah Elizabeth Wright Long.

Mrs. Beachum was a member of McDonald Baptist Church, where she played piano from her early teen years until her failing health several years ago. Playing the piano was one of her many enjoyments in life. She was an avid reader, being well-known at the local library for getting books to read. At times, she would read until she would fall asleep.

She loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Talking and getting to know people was an attribute she possessed and everyone loved her. According to her husband of 60 years, she had the prettiest smile and he remembers well the last time she smiled at him. Her family will miss her greatly.

She was predeceased by her parents; and sister, Donna Williams.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald Roger Beachum Sr., of the home; son, Gerald Roger Beachum Jr. (Pamela) and daughter, Teresa L. Beachum, all of Marston; grandchildren, John Christopher “C.J.” Beachum, of Marston, Kassie Beachum, of Lacey, Washington, Dustin Beachum, of Cordova, and Trevor Dalton McBryde, of Marston; great-grandchild, Madison Beachum; and brother, John Maner Long Jr., of Rockingham.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021 at 2 p.m. at McDonald Baptist Church, Rockingham.

Memorials may be made to: Richmond County Aging Services/Dementia Friendly Community, 225 S. Lawrence Street, Rockingham, NC  28379.
