ROCKINGHAM — A man wanted on multiple outstanding warrants from two law enforcement agencies reportedly led deputies on a chase through Richmond County on Monday.

According to warrants, a deputy with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a hit and run on Feb. 24 involving a vehicle matching the description of the one driven by 32-year-old Reginald Lature Robinson Jr.

During the chase, Robinson reportedly was driving 120 mph in the 70 mph zone on U.S. 220.

Robinson is accused of running from the vehicle after crashing it and pulling away from the arresting deputy.

The sheriff’s office charged Robinson, of Hamlet, with one felony count of fleeing to elude arrest, as well as misdemeanor charges of resisting a public officer (two counts) and speeding.

Court records show Robinson is also facing 21 traffic citations from the sheriff’s office and N.C. State Highway Patrol.

(*Note - Three of the citations from the Highway Patrol are from 2024.)

Robinson was also served with outstanding warrants from both the Rockingham and Hamlet police departments from earlier this month and from 2024.

Warrants allege Robinson stole a debit card and used it to buy 20 packs of Newport cigarettes, Minute Maid apple juice “and other merchandise” totaling $166.83 from a Hamlet convenience store on Feb. 18.

On Oct. 21, Robinson allegedly stole three 12-packs of Bud Light from a Rockingham Dollar General, and used a stolen identification card when selling a stolen iPhone to an ecoATM for $10 at Walmart.

The iPhone, according to another warrant, was stolen the previous day from a Suburban, along with a debit card and a carton of Marlboro cigarettes. Robinson reportedly used the debit card for two purchases totaling $255.53 at Walmart and twice attempted to make a $78.23 purchase from Walgreens.

On Oct. 18, Robinson allegedly stole two bottles of Don Julio tequila from the ABC store in Hamlet and four bottles of Patron tequila from the ABC store on E. Broad Avenue in Rockingham.

Another warrant alleges that Robinson fled in a vehicle from the Rockingham Police Department during an attempted arrest on Oct. 23 and was in possession of an unspecified quantity of cocaine.

In September, Robinson allegedly conspired with Toni Marie Everette to pawn $1,500 in jewelry — stolen by Toni Marie Everette — to get a $150 loan from a local pawn shop.

Records show Everette took a plea deal and was convicted Jan. 17 of misdemeanor larceny and two counts of resisting a public officer and given an 18-month suspended sentence.

Robinson is facing the following charges from those alleged crimes: obtaining property by false pretenses (five counts); attempted obtaining property by false pretenses (two counts); conspiracy to obtain property by false pretenses; aiding and abetting larceny; financial card fraud (two counts); identity theft; breaking and entering a motor vehicle with theft; possession of stolen goods; fleeing to elude arrest; possession of a Schedule II controlled substance; and misdemeanor larceny (four counts).

He is also charged with reckless driving to endanger and driving left of center.

Robinson is being held in the Richmond County Jail on a $200,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court March 13.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Robinson received probation in 2018 when he was convicted of selling a Schedule I controlled substance and delivering or selling a Schedule II controlled substance.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
