ROCKINGHAM — A man out on bail with pending drug charges from last month is accused of stealing firearms from a pawn shop and selling them.

According to an arrest warrant taken out by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, 53-year-old Thermoun Junior Locklear, of Hamlet, broke into a building owned by E.R. Pawn Shop on Mill Road, stealing a Smith & Wesson M&P .40 caliber handgun and a Taurus G2C 9mm pistol.

A warrant alleges that Locklear sold the guns, but does not indicate to whom or for how much.

The alleged robbery and sale is reported to have taken place on May 20.

The warrant was issued June 18 and Locklear was arrested June 23 on the following charges: two counts of larceny of a firearm; two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon; two counts of obtaining property by false pretenses; breaking and entering; and habitual breaking and entering.

For those charges, he is being held on a combined $50,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court July 10.

Court records show Locklear took a plea deal in April on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, while a charge of possession of methamphetamine was dismissed.

Jail records reflect both of those charges, as well as a probation violation, with an additional $5,000 secured bond and a June 30 court date.

Records show Locklear was arrested May 22 — two days after the alleged firearms theft — on charges related to allegedly selling an unspecified quantity of cocaine to a confidential informant of the RCSO in February. In that case he is charged with selling cocaine, delivering cocaine and possession of cocaine, and was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond. His next court appearance in that case is Aug. 7.

According to the N.C. Department of Adult Correction, Locklear has a criminal history dating back three decades:

1993 - two counts of damage to property (Robeson County)

1997 - felony breaking and entering (Richmond County)

2019 - felony breaking and entering, two counts of larceny after breaking and entering (Robeson County)

In the latter case, Locklear’s probation was revoked later that year on the breaking and entering charge and one of the larceny charges and he was incarcerated for three months.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
