ROCKINGHAM — A Richmond County man is accused of stealing from a chain retailer three consecutive days last summer.
According to warrants taken out by Lowe’s Home Improvement, 61-year-old Ricky Daniel Rush went to the store on June 16, 2025 and walked out with a sink, cabinet base, molding, rope spray, snake repellent, bug repellent and laundry detergent.
(NOTE: Records show Rush’s middle name also spelled as “Danial” and “Donnell.”)
Rush allegedly went back to the store on June 17 and 18, taking more laundry detergent and snake repellent, as well as premixed fuel, batteries and motor oil.
On Nov. 20, a warrant alleges that Rush went back to Lowe’s and stole gear oil, motor oil, Round Up, bug spray and septic cleaner.
All the merchandise combined, according to warrants, is valued at $1,642.28
Three arrest warrants were issued Jan. 2 charging Rush with five counts of misdemeanor larceny. Court records show the warrants were served Jan. 12 by an officer with the Rockingham Police Department.
Rush is being held in the Richmond County Jail on a combined $1,000 secured bond. His first appearance was Jan. 13 and he is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 30.
Online court records show Rush also has a pending charge of driving while impaired in Moore County.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Rush has the following prior convictions:
1997 - driving while impaired
2002 - driving while impaired, other misdemeanant
2006 - communicating threats
2007 - assault on a female
2011 - driving while license revoked (Montgomery County)
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
