ROCKINGHAM — A man is accused of stealing from an electrical substation multiple times last month.

According to warrants, 28-year-old Jordan Franklin Jacobs, of Rockingham, went onto Duke Energy property on Substation Road — off of Church Street in East Rockingham — three times in November.

Jacobs allegedly stole assorted Milwaukee tools belonging to Great Southwestern Construction Company on Nov. 6, and copper wiring on Nov. 20 and 30.

Warrants were issued Dec. 11 to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office charging Jacobs with three counts each of first-degree trespassing on infrastructure and larceny after breaking and entering.

He was arrested Dec. 24 and booked into the Richmond County Jail on a $22,500 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 8.

Records show an order for arrest had also been issued after Jacobs failed to appear in court.

He is also being held on a $41,000 secured bond for two probation violations, as well as charges of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and discharging a weapon into an occupied property with serious injury.

Records show the latter two charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement when he was convicted of the conspiracy charge — as well as a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon — in 2023.

According to records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction, Jacobs was previously convicted of robbery with a dangerous weapon in 2016.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
