ROCKINGHAM — A man with several pending charges is now accused of stealing two vehicles and breaking into another earlier this month.

According to warrants, 22-year-old Nakeem Ladarius McKenzie, of Great Falls Circle, stole a Mazda 6 on Aug. 8 and a Chrysler Town and Country van on Aug. 10.

McKenzie is also accused of stealing a purse after breaking into a 2012 BMW X5 on Aug. 12.

He was arrested that day and charged by the Rockingham Police Department with two felony counts each of larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle; one felony count of breaking and entering a motor vehicle; and one count of misdemeanor larceny.

McKenzie was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $20,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 27.

Jail records show he is being held under an additional $20,000 secured bond for two probation violations.

Online court records show McKenzie has pending charges of breaking or entering a motor vehicle, injury to personal property, simple assault and resisting a public officer.

McKenzie also has pending charges of possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance on jail premises and a probation violation.

In May, McKenzie was wanted by the Hamlet Police Department on two counts of felony breaking and entering, and one count each of larceny after breaking and entering and attempted breaking and entering.

According to Capt. Randy Dover, McKenzie was picked up on those charges in Wake County, however they do not currently show up in online court records.

Despite the probation violations, online records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction show no previous convictions for McKenzie. However, in May, records showed McKenzie was convicted of simple assault in 2017.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
