ROCKINGHAM — A man wanted on multiple drug charges for five months was taken into custody on Monday.
Court records show 60-year-old Brian Keith Dixon Sr., of East Rockingham, was arrested Feb. 24 on the following charges: trafficking in methamphetamine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance; possession with intent to manufacturer, sell or deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance; maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The offense date is listed as Sept. 21, 2024 and the charges were filed the following day. However, the warrant wasn’t served until Feb. 24.
Since the warrant was issued weeks prior to Richmond County joining the eCourts system, the warrant is not publicly available online.
Dixon was booked into the Richmond County Jail where he is being held on a $250,000 secured bond. He appeared in court Feb. 25 and received a court-appointed attorney. His next court appearance is slated for March 6.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Dixon was most recently convicted in 2023 of possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. He was given probation.
Dixon’s first conviction was in 1983 for felony breaking and entering.
His next conviction didn’t come until 2015 on charges of possession or distribution of a meth precursor and possession with intent to sell a Schedule I controlled substance in Brunswick County.
In 2021, Dixon received probation when he was convicted of possession with intent to sell a Schedule II controlled substance. That probation was revoked later the same year when he was convicted of fleeing to elude arrest and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
Dixon served five months and was back in prison four months later on a post-release revocation.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
