ROCKINGHAM — A Robeson County man is facing several charges after allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman.

Zackery Clay Locklear, 21, of Maxton, is accused of hitting the reported victim with a closed fist, open hand and blunt objects along her head and body on Feb. 3.

Locklear allegedly caused a deep laceration on the reported victim’s head by hitting her with a flat iron, mirror and a vape.

The case was investigated by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Locklear was arrested and charged with one felony count of assault with serious bodily injury, and one misdemeanor count each of assault on a pregnant woman and battery of an unborn child.

He is being held without bond in the Richmond County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 16.

Online court records show Locklear has pending assault charges from July 31, 2025 involving the same reported victim in Scotland County.

In that case, Locklear is accused of slapping the reported victim on the right side of her face and hitting her above her left eye with a .380 pistol, resulting in a large gash.

(NOTE: There are two cases featuring magistrate orders with different numbers describing the same incident with the same date.)

Locklear is charged with assault on a female, assault with a deadly weapon and assault inflicting serious injury.

Records show Locklear posted bail on Aug. 1 and failed to appear in court Dec. 4, however it appears no order for arrest was issued. There is no future court date listed in the case.

Records appear to show Locklear has no prior convictions in the state.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
