McInnis appointed to budget committee

RALEIGH — State Sen. Tom McInnis last week was appointed to the Appropriations Base Budget Committee.

This committee oversees the budget for the North Carolina Senate and is responsible for approving all of the appropriations in the state budget, according to McInnis’ office. 

“It was an honor to be named to the Appropriations Base Budget Committee by Senator (Phil) Berger," he said in a statement. "I look forward to being able (to) further advocate for my constituents and District 25 in my new role.” 

McInnis, R-Richmond, also serves as co-chairman of both the Senate Transportation Committee and Appropriations on Department of Transportation Committee along with Sen. Jim Davis, R-Franklin.

He is also a member of the following committees: Agriculture/Environment/Natural Resources; Commerce and Insurance; Education/Higher Education; Select Committee on Prison Safety; and State and Local Government.

McInnis is also co-chair of the non-standing Joint Legislative Committee on Local Government and appointed to the Joint Legislative Transportation Oversight Committee, Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on the N.C. State Lottery and the Joint Selective Committee on Storm-Related River Debris/Damage in North Carolina.

District 25 includes Richmond, Anson, Moore and Scotland counties.
